Meet the man behind the design for BMW's S1000RR: Ola Stenegard
Seriously. He designed the HP2 Sport too.
Not what I expected from a BMW designer (think sterile, humorless Deutsche efficiency) but it certainly explains why BMW was able to meet, exceed and break all the rules the first time out with the S1000RR. And do it all over again for 2012.
There's no way a man who thinks the Norton Manx is the most beautiful production bike ever built, can name the legendary Triumph Trophy 650 as his first "serious" motorcycle, and rides a bike he built in his garage while donning a pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers, could ever produce a dog.
